Processing Technologies International LLC announced it has been awarded a U.S. patent for a diverter valve that allows sheet extrusion processors to quickly change the position of extrudates from two extruders in a coextruded structure, without the need for shutting the line down and disassembling it.
The system uses hydraulic actuation of the piston cylinder, and a unique flow design, to quickly make changeovers in the piston position.
The innovation received U.S. patent 8,490,643.
In other news, PTi has beefed up its customer service department, and will offer, for the first time, aftermarket products such as coaters, accumulators, slitters and winders as stand-alone products for upgrading existing machinery from PTi and competitive extrusion systems.
The company io Aurora, Ill., named J.R. Duff to the newly created position of director of customer services. PTi also promoted Gloria Navarro to supervisor within that group. Scott Stecker continues as service manager.
